The primary education stage at Shackleton consists of two key stages:
Our curriculum provides a comprehensive and balanced approach that fosters our students’ spiritual, mental, moral, cultural, and physical development. We equip them with the skills and knowledge necessary for their future roles. Our core subjects include English, Mathematics, and Science, while we also teach foundation subjects such as Art and Design, Computing, Design and Technology, Languages, Geography, History, Music, and Physical Education.
In addition to these subjects, we offer Personal, Social, Health, and Economic education (PSHE). This subject teaches our students about peer pressure, financial education, and the importance of physical activity and diets for a healthy lifestyle, among other things.
At Shackleton, we understand the importance of this phase of education and its contribution to the knowledge children will acquire later. However, we know that our students are still children at this age. Therefore, we encourage parents and relatives to accompany this learning process from home. That is why we have a no-homework policy for primary students. This enables children to spend time with their family, thus enhancing the family bonds and seeing their house as a place to relax.
